At the Arnold Arboretum's own Fog x Hill, you can join us as we celebrate the Emerald Necklace Conservancy's Fog x FLO by artist Fujiko Nakaya. On September 15th, drop in for our Hydrophobic Lab to find out how fog interacts with other elements (ages 8 and up).

Family Hike - Let's Take a Journey, Let's Make it "Stick!"

Come find your way through forests and meadows to discover beauty. Along the way, record your travels with a Journey Stick, an ancient form of way-finding and storytelling used by Aboriginals and Native Peoples. One adult may bring a maximum of three children; suitable for children ages five through twelve. Meet in the Visitor Center.

From Seed to Tree Guided Tour

Did you know that almost all of the plants in the Arboretum begin their lives in the Dana Greenhouses? Get a behind-the-scenes look of the greenhouse growing process, from seed to sprout to seedling to tree. Meet at the Bonsai and Penjing Collection above the Leventritt Shrub & Vine Garden. There is a 15 person maximum.

Explore the huge variety of native trees, shrubs, and woody vines. Learn which species grow well in shade, which support local wildlife, and how to stagger plantings for continuous bloom, fruit production, and fall color. We’ll discuss growth characteristics, cultural requirements, and best horticultural uses. The course will include lectures and walks in the Garden in the Woods in Framingham as well as a trip to the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain. Bring a bag lunch.
