Georgia: The Cradle of Wine and Polyphony

Join us for an evening celebrating the music and culture of Georgia.

Dr. George (Gia) Baghashvili, a well-known Georgian folklorist, ethnomusicologist and cultural activist, will provide background on Georgian musical culture in histalk, "Georgia: The Cradle of Wine and Polyphony." Gordela, a Georgian folk ensemble based at I.J. Tbilisi State University, will perform traditional Georgian folk music using a variety of string, woodwind, and percussion instruments. Dr. Bagashvili add context to the selections played by Gordela.
