Film: Tacita Dean’s Kodak

Date:

Wednesday, July 11, 2018, 6:00pm to 7:30pm

Location:

Harvard Art Museums, 32 Quincy St., Cambridge

As part of our special programming related to the Analog Culture exhibition, the museums will present Tacita Dean’s film Kodak (2006; 16 mm; 44 min.).

Kodak (2006) is set within a closing Kodak motion-picture film factory in Chalon-sur-Saône, France. Vivid and luminous, Kodak uses the medium of film to explore its own manufacture and contemplate its precarious status in the 21st century, given the rise of digital production. While Kodak is typically exhibited as an installation, we have the unique opportunity to experience Dean’s investigation of cultural obsolescence in the cinema at Menschel Hall.
