    Make the most out of the time away from the Ceramics Program by exploring paper as a sculptural medium. Create paper prototypes out of cut, rolled, folded and assembled paper. Wet paper techniques such as embossing, papier-mâché, home-made paper clay, and silicone mold making will also be explored. Students will view virtual demos, engage in class discussions, and have group and individual critique sessions.

    Join 2019-20 Artist in Residence Ruth Easterbrook as she guides students to focus on the foundation of all pots by breaking down form into its basic shapes. Students will use paper, scissors, and sketchbooks to then move towards working with clay. We will use paper to consider surface decoration, and forms built with templates as we advance with our form discovery.     Independent Studio at Home is intended for participants in the Boston area who are not enrolling in Fall 2020 online Ceramics Program course, but would like to access bisque and/or glaze-firing opportunities at the Ceramics Program. This option includes firing and studio glazes for up to 10,000 cubic inches of bisque and/or glaze work for the 6-week session.
