    Family Hike: Evergreens!

    Arnold Arboretum, 125 Arborway, Boston

    Spruces and hemlocks and pines, oh my! Take a walk and use a hand lens to see the intricacies of evergreen needles and cones. You will be surprised at something you’ve never noticed before.

    Roslindale Gateway Path Tour

    Arnold Arboretum, South Street Gate, Boston

    Join us for a tour of the proposed Roslindale Gateway Path: an accessible shared-use pedestrian and cycling path through the Arnold Arboretum. When complete, this path will provide a missing pedestrian link between Forest Hills Subway Station and Roslindale Village Commuter Rail Station, offering carbon-free commuting options and connecting Boston residents with the natural spaces in their own neighborhoods. Come learn about this collaborative project with the Arboretum's Head of Operations and Project Management, Danny Schissler.

    Family Hike: What is Beautiful to You?

    Join us for a family hike as we explore the winter landscape to find something beautiful to each of us. We will go through varied parts of the landscape, including a forested area and an exploration of the ponds, looking at things large and small. Our route includes a short uphill hike, but we can amend the pathway to be flatter and more even as participants require.

    Lead poisoning has well-known impacts for the developing brain of young children, with a large literature documenting the negative effects of elevated blood lead levels on academic and behavioral outcomes.     Guided Bicycle Tour

    Come on a bicycle ride with Arboretum Horticulturist Brendan Keegan to learn how much of the Arboretum you can see by bike as we head into fall. You will make many stops along the way to admire the fall foliage and learn about plants in the collection. This ride involves several climbs (and descents) of our two large hills, Bussey and Peters.
