    Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra: Final Concert

    The Covenant of Love: The Poetry, Music and Spirituality of South Asian Muslim Cultures

    Harvard Professor Ali Asani ’77; Pakistani pop star and author Ali Sethi ’06; and Grammy-winning producer Noah Georgeson will share the poetic consciousness of legendary South Asian mystic poets through music and conversation. Saxophonist and composer Don Braden '85, lauded by the New York Times as “brilliant and assured,” is the guest artist.

    Space, Movement, and the Technological Body: A Tribute to the Bauhaus

    Ensemble Adilei

    Ensemble Adilei performs traditional Georgian polyphonic songs and chants, although their main passion lies in the songs from the province of Guria in Western Georgia. Gurian music is sometimes compared to jazz, because of the emphasis on improvisation, and non-parallel movement in all the voice parts. Gurian song is also characterized by k'rimanch'uli, a yodeling technique often present in the upper voice.

    Schlesinger 75th Anniversary Celebration

    In this performance and discussion, “The Suffragists” captures the power and passion of American women’s fight for the vote through song. Created by the acclaimed singer-songwriter Shaina Taub, the musical tells the story of the last decade of the struggle through the rivalry between Carrie Chapman Catt and Alice Paul. Taub’s musical gives voice to these women in ways that powerfully resonate in today’s political landscape. The performance will be followed by a multidisciplinary panel discussion.
