    The Arboretum Experience

    Arnold Arboretum (125 Arborway, Boston) & American Repertory Theater

    Visitors are invited to experience the natural beauty of the Arnold Arboretum on an outdoor, self-guided journey that centers resilience, healing, wellness, and joy. This collaboration between the American Repertory Theater and the Arboretum features multi-genre audio plays for various ages, interactive movement maps, and pop-up performances, all set against the 281-acre backdrop of one of the jewels of Boston’s Emerald Necklace.

    Forest Bathing with Toadstool Walks

    Location: 

    Bussey Street Gate, Arnold Arboretum, Boston

    Join Tam Willey of Toadstool Walks as you slow down and awaken your senses on a guided therapeutic experience in the Arnold Arboretum. Forest bathing is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, a restorative sensory exploration that supports health and healing for all beings. Each walk is limited to 8 participants. Meet at the Bussey Street Gate. Participants must follow COVID guidelines including wearing a mask and practicing social distancing, as well as sign a liability and release form.

    Guided Tree Meditation

    This guided tree meditation offers an opportunity to connect and ground the self with the environment around.

    Surrounded by the beauty and life of the Arnold Arboretum, this meditation will be benefitted by the ancient awareness and alchemy of trees and the subtle healing capacities of nature. Join us if you’re ready to root yourself into the energy of spring!

    Family Hike: Play in the Snow

    Hunnewell Building, Arnold Arboretum, 125 Arborway, Boston

    Families need nature all year round! Meet inside the main gate at the Visitor Center. We will find a place to play together, making snow angels, snow humans, and more! Afterwards, families are invited to come inside the Lecture Hall to warm up with cookies and cocoa. Free and open to all, most suitable for children ages four through ten.

    Walter Brown Arena, 285 Babcock St, Boston

    Women’s Hockey battles BC/BU in the second round of the Beanpot at 5/8pmpm hosted by Boston University at Walter Brown Arena.

    Tickets: $10 for adults, $5 for seniors or children. One ticket grants admission to both games— First Round 2/3 and Consolation/ Championship 2/11 at 5pm/ 8pm.

    Tickets: $38 in Balcony seating, $45 in Loge seating.

    Student tickets are on sale in person at the Murr Center Ticket Office or at the Smith Center from 1-5pm on Thursday, January 30th and Friday, January 31st.
    One ticket grants admission to both games—First Round 2/3 and Consolation/ Championship 2/10 at 5pm/ 8pm.

    Winter Wellness Walk

    Location: 

    Hunnewell Building, Arnold Arboretum, 125 Arborway, Boston

    Great scenery and exercise, who could want more? Take a brisk walk this winter and stay healthy and connected to the Arboretum at a time when the landscape is pared down to its beautiful bones. This walk emphasizes fitness, with a healthy dose of information on seasonal highlights. Winter tours are geared to adults and led by trained Arboretum docents.

    After your tour, stay on for a warm drink and more conversation with your guide and staff in the Visitor Center.

    Active Aging Week: Stroll Through Time

    This "Stroll" takes you for a simple and easy route through the Arboretum's collections. At pre-determined stops, pause and hear about some of very special plants with one of our wonderful docents.     Active Aging Week: Try Tai Chi

    Note: The October 5 class will take place from 1:30pm to 2:30pm. 

    Join Harvard’s Master Yon Lee and learn about the practice of tai chi, an ancient Chinese tradition, often described as meditation in motion. Tai chi has the potential to prevent and remedy many health conditions that are associated with aging. Move through a series of gentle, fluid movements with Master Yon Lee during an hour-long session outdoors in the peaceful surroundings of the Arnold Arboretum. Beginners welcome.

    Fall Forest Bathing

    This slow-paced guided therapeutic experience promotes wellness through a series of gentle sensory-opening invitations that welcome us to notice more of our natural surroundings. By deepening our connection with the natural world and each other, we open ourselves up to the healing medicine of the forest. Forest Bathing is part of a global effort to tend to the stressful conditions of living in modern industrialized civilization.
