Sing and dance outdoors at a wide range of family-friendly performances held during the Brighton Farmer's Market! Performers include local and regional entertainers performing children's music, klezmer, hip hop, acapella, funk, Afro-Brazilian drumming, taiko, and more. All events are free, weather permitting, and open to the public.
Concerts take place two Wednesdays a month: 2nd Wednesdays are part of the Harvard Ed Portal Family Concert Series; last Wednesdays are part of the Brighton Main Streets' Brighton Sounds Concert Series.
The Office for the Arts offers a daily dose of artistic inspiration for anyone looking to find a moment of beauty, comfort and connection. The Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet returns to the Harvard Ed Portal February 26 as part of their 2019-2020 season. Join us for an evening of classical music that explores 300 years of the string quartet genre, and its history of inspiring great composers to create their most personal and dynamic works. Covering a wide spectrum of artistic thought and expression, from humor and mysticism to a holy song of thanksgiving, the program will highlight select works from this exciting and unique medium. Join the Harvard ArtLab, Harvard’s new laboratory for art and research, for an opening celebration on September 21! Allston-based tap dance company Subject: Matter will kick off the celebration with a performance beginning promptly at 10:00am accompanied by a live jazz band. Visitors can have their portrait taken by Boston-based photographer OJ Slaughter and experience the ArtLab’s sound studio and A*, the multi-channel art installation by Harvard Film Study Center Fellow Andy Graydon.

Join the Harvard Ed Portal for the 2019 Summer Concert Series featuring a diverse lineup of performers whose family-friendly programs will have you dancing and singing along!
On June 17, the series kicks off with Afro-Brazilian percussion group Grooversity. Next up on July 15, Bamidele brings West African dancing and drumming to north Allston-Brighton. And on August 12, close out the season with Veronica Robles' and her all-female mariachi trio.

Harvard Jazz Bands will take the stage with Grammy Award-nominated saxophonist Yosvany Terry, Senior Lecturer on Music and director of Harvard Jazz Bands, and Mark Olson, director of the Harvard Wind Ensemble and Harvard University Band. Saxophonist and composer Don Braden '85, lauded by the New York Times as “brilliant and assured,” is the guest artist.

Join the Harvard Ed Portal for a special evening celebrating Diwali, the Indian festival of lights! Diwali is said to be lit by the love that resides within each person. Dancer and Harvard Kennedy School student Neha Bansal will explore this idea with a performance of her original work A Hundred Moons, a dance in the Kathak Indian classical style. Bansal’s work uses traditional Indian symbols to tell the story of the love between two mythological characters, Radha and Krishna.
