For families looking for something to do during February school vacation week, Harvard offers a variety of activities on campus for local residents. Free Public Skating
Now through March 8, 2013
Science Center Plaza, Cambridge Street Overpass, Cambridge
Harvard has opened an ice rink located on the plaza, adjacent to the Science Center on the Cambridge Street overpass. Skating is free and open to the public. Skate rentals are available for $5 or patrons can bring their own skates. The rink is open Tuesdays-Sundays 12pm-9pm, and closed Mondays. The rink is open now through March 8. Family Event: Mexican Flag Day Discovery Room
Saturday, February 16 & Tuesday-Friday, February 19-22
Peabody Museum, 11 Divinity Ave, Cambridge, noon-4pm
February 24th is Mexican Flag Day. Come explore the history of the flag and the Aztec origin of the eagle and the cactus in the flag’s coat of arms. And don’t miss the make-and-take-home project! Free with Museum admission. This event is recommended for ages 5 and up. Also at the Peabody Museum, Massachusetts residents receive free admission on Wednesdays from 3pm to 5pm and Sunday mornings from 9am to 12 noon. For more information, please call 617-495-3216.
Community Game: Women's Basketball vs. Yale

Come cheer on the Harvard women's basketball team as they take on Yale at this "Pack the House" themed game. Join us for free giveaways, an autograph session, and more! Harvard Museum of Natural History

Visit the Harvard Museum of Natural History (HMNH) to view amazingly realistic glass models of plants, flowers and fruits, explore the natural ecology of our forests, and learn about the evolutions of mollusks. The HMNH is free to Massachusetts residents every Sunday from 9am-noon and Wednesdays from 3-5pm. Also join us Saturdays & Sundays at 11am & 2pm for readings of stories and poems with themes related to the museum's galleries (for children 6 and under).
